Easter Candy and Cakes for Baskets

by Gibson Joness

This year, delight family and loved ones with Easter baskets filled with premium Easter candy, Easter cakes and cookies made with unexpected and delightful flavors. Easter candy made from natural ingredients without the use of artificial colors and flavors are the perfect alternatives for a healthy Easter basket. These candies are made with fresh fruit juices so they get their wonderful flavors and colors from natural ingredients. Choose all-natural jellybeans, sour candy, gummy candy and lollypops as delightful springtime treats.

These natural jellybeans and gummy candy can be used to make simple homemade treats like jelly bean bark. Melt premium-quality dark chocolate or white chocolate and spread in a lined jelly roll pan. Sprinkle natural jelly beans or gummy candy and allow them to cool. Break into pieces and wrap in cellophane for presenting in Easter baskets.

Besides traditional choices like jellybeans, other wonderful treats that you can include in your Easter baskets are Medici almonds, yogurt-covered raisins and chocolate-dipped fruits. Medici almonds are flavorful almonds encased in thin pastel-colored sugar shells. These delights are available with specialty stores and gourmet food stores. They make delightful treats for Easter baskets as they resemble adorable pastel mini eggs. White yogurt raisins and chocolate covered fruits can be easily made at home.

Give traditional Easter candy such as chocolate Easter eggs a new twist by choosing eggs with different fillings. Many artisanal chocolate makers offer Easter eggs and truffles filled with delicious ganache and fillings. Creamy peanut butter, slightly salty caramel, tart lemon ganache, sweet raspberry filling are some complementing flavors that work well with the chocolate shell of the eggs.

Petit fours which are mini Easter cakes are available in a wide range of enjoyable flavors and make wonderful Easter basket fillers. Bring home two to three sets of these mini Easter cakes so you can add many flavors to your Easter basket. The idea is to surprise your loved ones with baskets that offer an assortment of flavors. Cake pops are also a great idea if you want to add a range of flavors to your basket. Choose cake pops of different flavors and Easter-inspired shapes like eggs and chicks for playful and flavorsome treat baskets.

As spring is the time for beautiful blooms, include Easter cakes and cupcakes topped with edible flowers. Edible flowers make excellent decorations and flavorings for popular cupcakes like chocolate and vanilla.
