Baklava And Its Variations

Baklava indeed is one of the most cherished desserts especially in the middle east. The best thing about Baklava is that they are of many kinds and one can alter it according to their liking. Baklava is one such dessert which needs a lot of practice to attain perfection. Therefore most of these desserts are made in Baklava factory itself.

Following are various kinds of baklava and predominantly most of the baklava follows somewhat similar Baklava recipe which consist of a Gourmet baklava Pastries made of dough which is filled with nuts. The Mediterranean Baklava is thin layers of pastries which is filled with roasted nuts.

Original Baklava - The original baklava follows a strict recipe which consists of thin layers of pastry. In between each layers various nuts such as Pistachios, pine nuts, walnuts are roasted and put. They lie sandwiched between each layer with a golden syrup so that they stick onto the pastry.

Borma: Borma baklava is quite famous among children,this is derived from the Arabic word Borma which means round in shape. This is made by covering thin strings of sweetened dough around a nut or a cluster of nut. These crispy strings of dough are stuck and entangled around the nuts with the help of sweetened syrup which also helps it to cling with each other.

Ballorieh-If you are fond of pistachio then Ballorieh is one of those baklava which you would definitely cherish. Here the white dough sandwich crushed and crunchy pistachio. The white color of the dough is so bright which also gives this dessert its name. Ballorieh in Arabic means glow.

Asabi-Asabi is one the most tempted form of baklava which is also known as fingers in the west. They are in the shape of the fingers and are very handy to eat. Infact is one of the most famous finger desserts. Here the roasted nuts especially pine nuts, kernels, and pistachios are rolled inside the dough in the shape of fingers.

Package: making this kind of Baklava is truly a work of art. This is a very nice demonstration of a bird nest.The dough is made like a basket and inside this basket are places sweet roasted nuts. This basket is also known as the birds nest. The basket can be of any shape mostly they are square shape with 4 pointed edges.

Iswara (bracelets): As the name suggests this baklava is a form of a bracelet. Here the dough is made in a circle or a cylindrical shape and inside there is a stuffing of roasted nuts with golden syrup and twisted in the form of a bracelet.
