Green living is not simply about the kind
of food you eat, it is about fulfilling your environmental
responsibility. It is a choice one makes towards ensuring a greener
ecology. Green living demands being conscious in every step of
day-to-day living. Right from the type of food you eat, the clothes you
wear, items you dispose and the way you manage your garbage, one can
make a ‘green’ choice in every aspect of their life.
Many everyday items are use-and-throw, but only if we paid a little attention and invoked our creative streak, we can easily use discarded bottles, clothing apparels, and other such items for creating useful and decorative pieces. Reusing and recycling is the way to conserve and create new, handy items from old ones!
• Paper: Every home has paper in so many different forms. Old newspapers, books, magazines etc., which makes for the monthly trip to the scrap dealer. Old paper can make for interesting gift wrappers, book covers or scratch pads
.
• Clothing: Apparels like jeans, T-shirts, skirts and shirts offer endless possibilities for recycling. Old, worn out jeans can be transformed into stylish bags. T-shirts and shirts can be incorporated in making colorfully patterned quilts or patched rugs. You can also make pillows or throw cushions with T-shirts.
• Plastic bottles: Discarded plastic bottles of water or juices can be used in numerous ways. Cut them up, decorate with old newspaper cuttings or festoon some stickers on it – you have an attractive pen holder. You can use them for even holding knickknacks like nails, stationery. Etc.
• Cardboard boxes: You can create myriad things with cardboard boxes. The simplest way is to use them for storing things like toys, equipments, etc. You can even make creative lamp shades with these boxes. Simply poke a little hole on one side of the box, big enough to pass an electric wire. Connect it with a bulb and place it wherever you like. You can decorate the cardboard box any way you like.
With these simple ideas, you can make your own signature line of recycled products, and be proud that you have reduced your carbon footprint remarkably!
Organic food is green food!
Organic living is your way to health and the right nutrition. Chemical and pesticide- free, organic food products are pure and unadulterated. It is certainly not possible to grow or harvest all kinds of organic food products to make sure that you are getting authentic food products! However, you can easily buy organic food products online. There are many virtual stores that allow you to shop for organic food products online.
Earlier, people did not have access to organic products easily, and had no choice but to consume only non-organic products, but now with the option for buying organic products online, organic living has become a lot easier!
